eBay pick of the day: "Never Work Ever" EP

"Never Work Ever" by The Raymond Brake

It's tough to talk about just how good The Raymond Brake were. When I was 17, I took a bus to DC for the weekend with $10 and nowhere to sleep for the sole purpose of seeing them play at the "Simple Machines Goodbye" party. Here are a couple photos from their set at The Black Cat, March 14th, 1998:

Pick up the "Never Work Ever" EP and then track down their "Piles of Dirty Winters" CD. It's one of my "Top Five" albums, if we're going there.

Money for nothing

This is either the worst legitimate eBay auction or the best spam auction I've ever come across. "Record Mastering Lathe," in lowercase, without photos, text or links of any sort. Just an "I'll take what's behind Door Number Three" leap of faith for $5,000. Amazing.

A third auction!

Our third auction is for a fairly hard to find Ibanez LS10 Dual Loop Selector pedal. $20 opening, $50 Buy It Now.

Note: NOT CURRENLTY PASSING SIGNAL. You'll have to do a small repair job, but it shouldn't take much to get this baby up and running tip top!

The LS10 can be used as a 3 --> 1 mixer, a 1 --> 3 mixer or as a single or dual effect chain selector. Pretty cool!

A second auction!

Here's our second eBay auction, for a Boss RRV-10 half rack digital reverb. You can pull some interesting sounds out of this box-- it'll surprise you! Same story as our other auction: $100 Buy It Now, $50 opening bid.

Historical note: this particular machine has been used all over the nosier Gary Carters recordings.

And so it begins...

We've figured out how to sell things on eBay and have posted our first auction: a pair of Presonus Tube Pres. Starting bid $50, Buy It Now of $100. As Mad Magazine says, "Our price-- cheap!"

Here's the link. Bid often!

Historical note about the preamps: one of them had its "Drive" knob snapped off during the recording of Thee Iran-Contras album "That's We Rapping."

UPDATE: sold, 5/8/07.

eBay pick of the day: a black 441?

Sennhesier MD 441U

Actually, I think this is a BF-541. We've got a pair of Black Fire 521s-- they're like regular 421s but without the bass roll-off. And they've got cheaper, black plastic bodies. Suspicious...

eBay pick of the day: Neil Young 12"

"Sample and Hold" 12" single by Neil Young

This is from his electronic album, "Trans," which has its moments, actually. I'm very curious about the "Mr. Soul Dance Remix." If someone reading this wins the "Sample and Hold" auction, please drop me a line.
