The Speers at Quimby's

Here's our set from Friday:

"Louis and Bebe"

My pal Ryan visited me at school this past Tuesday to talk shop and make some noise. I recorded about 20 minutes of the latter, revisited it yesterday, did some editing and we now have this:

The scope images are from earlier that day (see the previous post for information). Any sync between the audio and video is purely coincidental.

Last minute show announcement (tonight!)

Jess and I, as The Speers, will be playing music at Anne Elizabeth Moore's reading tonight at Quimby's. She'll be reading from her new book of photos and stories of her time in Cambodia, we'll be processing and looping records from Cambodia. We go on first.

7pm, free. Come on out!

Knobcon photos

I was at the inaugural Knobcon synthesizer conference this past weekend as both a participant and as a rep for Make Noise. Below are some photos of the gear on hand-- a 9 panel custom Serge system! A 200e! A working Chaos Computer! Well, I didn't get a shot of that one, but trust me it was there and it was working.

Already looking forward to next year's installment!

This is the all-Make Noise 6U system I brought with me:

...and here's a video I made with it when I got home (shot, apparently, without a light in the room):

UPDATE: Finally, here are my notes on the demo patch I initially set up for Knobcon (it mutated throughout the day):

"Radio Music"

Lady Rollins did a performance of "Radio Music" at a John Cage centennial that Jess organized at the New Corpse Space this past Saturday. A success all around, and a great time!

Here's the recording-- each of us had our own radio, tuned to the AM band, spread around the room:

The scores we got from the library were signed originals! What are the odds??
