Our time at WFMU

We recorded a set at WFMU a few hours ago for Scott McDowell's excellent "Long Rally" show. It'll air on Wednesday, 7/16 at 11pm. Tune in!

Before we played, Scott gave us a tour of the building. Here's their "Wall of Tapes," which, we were told, was recently scaled down considerably. Too bad!

There were a couple of Irving Klaw Trio tapes in the lot (Self-Titled from 1994, plus another I didn't recognize), and a great looking Schooly D gem, too:

We made our way into the basement, which seemed to be where they keep all of the bad records. Case in point, Ben with Accept's classic "Balls to the Wall":

Thanks again for the great time, Scott!

P.S. Thank you Trent for engineering!!

What are you doing with your $600?

I filed my taxes fairly late in the game and, over the weekend, received my Economic Stimulus check from the government. So, chances are, if I've gotten mine, you've gotten yours.

Question: what are you doing with your $600? Saving it? Paying down debt? Buying a KM184?

EDIT: I just spoke with someone over at Analog Haven-- the "Low Cost Suitcase" version of Doepfer's A-100 case was just released in Germany, and will be available, along with a "bunch of new modules," in the States at the end of July.

Now all I've got to figure out is which Livewire piece to start with.

Yet another new side project!

The Tender & Vulnerable met up earlier tonight to record with Tobias as well. We put together four new songs under the working name "Jacques."

During a break, this happened:

In any case, look for an EP on Colonial (under a new name, I imagine) soon!

New side project!

Tobias Blum, former guitar player for Skyle (of which The Shamblers own Ben T. was a founding member; Jess and I covered their "It's Not For Me" on our first, Ben-less album), stopped by this past Sunday to catch up.

We ended up recording two new songs for an upcoming 45 and need your help with a name for the new band. No guidelines-- either email over your ideas or leave them in the comments. My current working title for the project: "Sabbath IV."

Tipsy snip!

Jess giving one of her famous Tipsy Snips to our pal and #1 Shamblers fan Emily this past Monday night:

Good work on the shortwave crank radio soundscapes, Emily! And thumbs up, as usual, on the cut, Jess! Tipsy Snips has been batting a thousand--steroid free I'd like to add-- from the get-go.

Boooooom!

We had a big thunderstorm in Bay Ridge yesterday (Jess was out in it, riding her bike through the streets). I was filming the rain from a window, because that's something I like to do, when, suddenly, this happened:
